In a career spanning more than 20 years, Rupert has enjoyed success in a variety of roles and a diverse range of businesses. This experience has encompassed the Foodservice sector, the major-branded FMCG market and the Leisure & Hospitality industry. In this time, he has managed tele-sales, van-sales, field-sales and venue-based sales teams.
Throughout his career, Rupert's work philosophy has been underpinned by a common-sense, practical approach to sales, founded on the premise that hardworking, well-trained and enthusiastic sales people really can make a difference to a company's performance. And that the best results always come when you and your team love doing what you do.
Rupert began his career in sales at 3663. It was here, working with the largest sales team in its industry, that he honed his sales principles and disciplines, as Regional Sales Controller covering several depots and over one hundred fieldsales and telesales executives.
His next challenge came at CERT Logistics, who had recently acquired the National independent salesforce of Energizer Batteries. As Sales Director, Rupert led the transformation of this largely van sales-based, one- product business, into a multi-product, multi-channel sales operation. Sales grew rapidly, with CERT eventually partnering a number of blue-chip companies, including Unilever, Walkers, Procter & Gamble and H.J.Heinz, working within all of the major retailers.
Having dealt closely with Heinz at CERT, Rupert was invited to join that business as National Sales Controller. Two years later, he was approached to create a similar sales structure to that existing within Heinz, at McCormick, owner of the Schwartz brand.
In 2008, Rupert moved to Novus Leisure. Over the prevailing years, as Sales Director with responsibility for all venues and the central Late Night London sales team, he has deployed the same principles and disciplines, into a leading operator in the Leisure & Hospitality industry. Sales responded immediately, with all areas of advanced sales, from birthdays to Christmas parties, from corporate meetings to full venue hires, in transformational growth. The strategy adopted and the structure, process, measurement and culture implemented, became much-admired and much-imitated across the industry.
